Our relationship started just like all good relationships start these days - on Bumble. Gib was a little concerned because my texting skills were less than great, but thankfully he still asked to meet in person. Our first date was at a bar in our favorite neighborhood in Richmond - The Fan. We quickly hit it off, so much so that Gib was courageous enough to meet up with me the very next night to meet some of my closest friends. They approved. After two great nights in a row, why not go for a third, right? Gib took me to a surprise birthday party for our third consecutive day of hanging out. Here, I was able to meet many of his amazing friends, and things were pretty much solidified after that night. We made the most of the next 18 months eating and drinking our way through Richmond with Solo. When I was given the opportunity to move to the mountains to join the dental practice of my dreams, Gib committed to the move and supported me through the transition no questions asked. We were barely situated in our new environment when the COVID pandemic hit. It was very tough in the beginning, but having Gib by my side made it all okay. One Friday afternoon during the height of the pandemic, Gib got home to our apartment and kept suggesting that we have a "no screen" night and go outside, but I was not having it. Finally, he sat down next to me and started, which I didn't realize at the time, his proposal speech. Just then my phone rang, and it was a patient calling, so I cut him off to answer the phone (I'm terrible, I know). This patient is a talker and kept me on the phone for way too long while Gib just paced around the living room. As soon as I hung up the phone, I looked up and Gib had become so nervous that he immediately got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I obviously said yes, and here we are now! We are so excited to continue to grow and build our life together.
