What God Hath Joined Together.....

"Sushi night"

We met probably in September 1981, when Amy was a Freshman and Andy was a Sophomore at High Point High School. We were good friends, and Amy asked Andy to be her date for the Sadie Hawkins dance, as well as her escort for Silvia Bazanno's quinceanera, but we were not a "couple". After graduation, life took us in different directions, and we grew a lot, and learned a lot about life. Our dear friend, Tim Day, organized "sushi night" as a reunion of sorts after 30 years or so, and sparks flew! Within a week, Andy declared his intentions to court Amy, respecting her timeline as she was grieving the loss of her dear husband, Lou, the previous year. As we got to know each other, again, it became obvious that we are meant to be together. Amy speculates that Lou actually whispered in God's ear to bring her another soul mate. Andy claims he heard a distinct voice in his head at one point, saying "You know you marry this girl, right?" Lou had been clear that he did not want Amy to be alone, though that was her expectation when she became a widow. We discovered that we are, indeed, deeply in love, playful best-friends and partners who are not superficially infatuated with some teenage version of ourselves, but have a divine spiritual connection evidenced by multiple "God-winks". For example the Episcopal priest at Christ Church in Exeter, who will marry us, is the same priest who served Andy's home church in Silver Spring as rector in the 1990's.
