A great drive with lots of scenic view stops and hikes along the way. Although Josh prefers it on his motorbike.
A moderate hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway with a great overlook!
I've been here several times, it's one of my favorites! A short hike up to the water. Try the slides at your own risk! Josh and I definitely had bruises afterward for sliding too hard.
Apple-picking season! Pick some apples, get a an apple cider donut, and overlook Charlottesville from the mountain top.
We always stop at Blue Toad when we're in the area. There's a cute, little creek out in the back we take our cider and sit by. They also have a BBQ food truck on site.
We come to Devil's Backbone when we camp in the area. One year we came for Valentine's Day in a foot of snow to camp in Josh's little camper and ski at Wintergreen. The basecamp has a restaraunt, brewery, distillery, big firepits, and games on site.
A staple of the area, Bold Rock is a cidery and distillery now. It's a huge property out back with lawn games, a creek, and occasional live music.
We love Potter's! They have cider and some food options. We recommend the Imperial Dry. A beautiful building and patio- we almost chose this as our wedding venue.
One of my favorite dates in the area was a self-guided wine tour that ended at a terrifying late-night corn maze in October...but Pollak Vineyards was our first stop, and we loved their wine!
We stumbled upon Beltie's on their opening day and needless to say it was chaos but we've since been back and are big fans of their coffee & breakfast sandwiches (especially the Woah Nelly!).
