Things To Do & Eat

We love this area because there is no shortage of things to do, and in particular - as animal nerds - because there is a huge variety of wildlife to be seen.

Cella Restaurant & Bar

525 Polk Street, Monterey, CA 93940

If you're looking for a nice dinner out, Cella is delicious, and located in a historic Monterey adobe.

Big Sur

Big Sur

CA

Big Sur needs no introduction! It's a huge area comprised of many remote towns and state parks. Drive down Highway 1 and pick the spots that interest you! You can see waterfalls, bridges, beaches, and redwoods.

Pinnacles National Park

Pinnacles National Park

King City, CA

We love Pinnacles National Park! We especially love the California condors, which you can reliably spot in the late afternoons and evenings. The west entrance is closer to the Carmel area. In July, Pinnacles could be extremely hot, so do check the weather if you plan to go here.

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

62 California 1, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93923
, (831) 624-4909

Point Lobos is one of our favorite state parks! It is a manageable size with beautiful coastal views and a flat loop around the entire park. You'll see seals, cormorants, and sometimes sea otters!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Monterey Bay Aquarium

886 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940
, (831) 648-4800

As anyone who knows Will can attest, he could watch the otters all day.

Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary

Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary

CA

Elephant (seal) in the room: this park is underwater. But the Monterey Bay is famous for its sea life, and there are plenty of ways to experience it - beaches, kayaking, and whale watches are highly recommended! Just an FYI for our East Coast guests - Hollywood has lied to you, and beaches in California get COLD during summer. Bring a jacket!

Garland Ranch Regional Park

Garland Ranch Regional Park

700 West Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley, CA 93924
, (831) 372-3196

Hiking very close to the venue!
