Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Pu'uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park

You'll need to pay for parking. There is a short hike with stairs.

Akaka Falls

Take a short fight up the staircase to see banyan trees and "boiling pots."

Rainbow Falls

Drive to this lookout to see into the valley. You need 4 wheel drive to enter the valley itself. The view is worth it.

Waipio Valley

Lookout with beautiful views into the valley. There is a steep trail to a black sand beach below.

Pololū Valley

Hāpuna Beach

Free but limited parking. Ask for beach access at the gate.

Kaunaʻoa (Mauna Kea) Beach

4 wheel drive required to reach summit. Summit is 13,803 feet. Acclimate at halfway point. Dress warm, could be snow!

Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site

Amazing breakfast with large plates! Recommend the loco moco, Portuguese sausage, spare ribs and pancakes. No reservations.

Hawaiian Style Cafe - Waimea

Nice sit-down restaurant with fresh fish, sushi and steaks.

Red Water Cafe

Great beer and pizza! You will see geckos.

Kona Brewing Co.

Pine Tree Cafe

Great shopping destination with art galleries, tourist shops, farmers market and restaurants on the water.

Ali'i Drive

Recommended luau, good food and show. Recommend you go the same day you visit Ali'i Drive. Buy tickets ahead of time. $$$
