Amber and Jake’s story started in December 2022 — not in some romantic café or at a fancy event, but in a tiny audit room at a client site. Amber was the senior associate in charge, and Jake was just a few months into his new job. On Jake’s first day, Amber gave him her number in case he had any questions. Encouraged by this, Amber found the confidence to go back up to Jake and continue their conversation. As the night wound down, Jake told Amber he was heading to another bar and invited her to join him. Thinking it might not be the best idea to go out drinking with coworkers, she declined. But shortly after he left, Amber realized she wished she’d gone with him. When she pulled out her phone, she noticed she didn’t have Jake’s number—until she remembered he’d texted her weeks earlier from the audit room saying, “I’m here at the client.” She quickly sent him a message that read, “Wait for me!”. A week later, Jake finally worked up the courage to ask Amber out on a proper date—a night of mini golf and drinks.
