Question

COVID-19

Answer

Travel restrictions, testing, and mask mandates change frequently. Please make sure you are fully vaccinated and review guidance from Scotland and the US prior to travel. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/international-travel-during-covid19.html https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/ https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-international-travel-quarantine/ https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-staying-safe-and-protecting-others/

Question

Weather

Answer

Expect daytime temperatures of 63-68°F. While generally mild, there can be fast changing conditions of sun, overcast, rain showers, and humidity.

Question

Dress code

Answer

Long or cocktail dresses for women. Suits for men. Be aware of uneven walking surfaces such as gravel and grass.

Question

Size

Answer

We wanted to keep the wedding intimate. As such our venue can host 40-60 of our closest family and friends for the ceremony and reception.

Question

Unplugged ceremony

Answer

Our ceremony will be phone free. Reception is spotty at Aikwood anyways. And our photographers will be there to capture the whole event.

Question

Passports

Answer

Yes, you need a passport! Passports must not expire within 6 months after the final day of travel. Renew your passports now as they can take several months to process.

Question

Transportation

Answer

Transportation will be provided to and from the ceremony for our guests staying at our hotel blocks. If you choose to drive, remember that they drive on other side of road and from the other side of the car across the pond! See our travel page for more information on the best ways to get to Aikwood.

Question

Castle

Answer

Aikwood is a traditional Border Peel Tower with medieval castle charm and over 500 years of history, dating back to 1455. The fortified residence can be considered a castle by definition.
