Like the beginning of all modern love stories, Amara and Jachwa matched on Bumble. Amara was enamored by how fresh, handsome, and nerdy Jachwa appeared. She was also interested in his unique DJ’ing hobby. Jachwa was stunned by Amara’s beauty and intrigued by her cleverness. After invigorating conversations about Tiny Desk concerts and Amara’s oreo obsession, they had their first date at Taco City DC. When Jachwa first saw Amara, he was absolutely captivated by her appearance but he likes to think he played it cool. The date was a light and fun affair where they learned about each other's quirks. Over the first date Jachwa learned about Amara’s love (some would say obsession) for children, charitable nature, curiosity, and agency. Key qualities he looked for in a partner. Amara appreciated how nice he looked in his button up and black pants and how the conversation flowed. Amara was extremely impressed about how he taught himself to code on the computer during the pandemic and made a career out of it. She also learned how much Jachwa appreciates nature and animals. When the date ended Jachwa was unconvinced that Amara was as interested in him as he was in her. He immediately called a friend to lament the opportunity he felt he just squandered. He talked about how special, smart, and clever she was. Amara was clearly a person worth keeping around and he wanted to do just that. But in his heart, he felt he did not have a shot for a second date, so he knew he had to swing for the fences the next time he asked Amara out. After the date, Amara was intrigued but unsure. She also called a friend to say how she enjoyed his company but was a bit unsure if she saw him in a romantic way. Her opinion quickly changed after a couple more dates ;) For their second date Jachwa asked Amara if she wanted to "eat ice cream and fly kites" which Amara thought was the most adorable date idea. She appreciated how he put in the thought and effort to set up a wonderful date. He bought the kites, researched necessary wind requirements to fly kits, found the perfect location, and even practiced beforehand. Suffice it to say the date went great and served as the key moment in the courting phase. As they spent more time together, they realized how much they connected in the way they see the world and how they treated others. Amara learned how Jachwa is sweet, considerate, caring, and intelligent. Jachwa learned Amara is curious, compassionate, and always right. Jachwa asked Amara to be his girlfriend on September 19th 2021 at Retrobottega, and since then they have fallen more and more in love.
