Everything: if you're looking for something to do for the day, go into Union Market and its surrounding restaurants and shops. Hit St. Anselm's for brunch, Rappahanock for Oysters, Salt & Sundry for local gifts, and all of Union Market for a taste of DC's finest. Great food and local boutiques.

National Mall

Tourism: walk the mall and see history. Let us know if you want museum recommendations. Note that all of the Smithsonian museums are free, but some require timed entry passes (National Museum of African American History and Culture requires a pass always; some others do depending on the time of year).

Rock Creek Park. Picnic Area #22

Tourism: If you're looking for something more in nature than in the city, this is our favorite spot to bring Chuck any time of year. This picnic area is a great place to park.
