There will be a shuttle provided from your accommodations to and from the venue for the ceremony/reception. Please see the "Schedule" tab to see times that shuttles will be picking up/dropping off. Shuttles will pick up from the main guard station of Las Gaviotas and from the front parking lot at Vista Hermosa. For other times, every accommodation option has a security guard that can easily call trusted taxis to get you wherever you need to go. Additionally, our wedding coordinator sent us the contact information with their trusted Taxi contact person, Lupe, who can help get you a taxi whenever you need. You can call or text using WhatsApp at +52 661 111 3188. If you are at the venue during any of the events, just talk to any staff member and they can assist with calling you a taxi from their reliable company that they use. Just be sure to have some cash to pay.
It is important to remember that the wedding is in Mexico and this is not a typical resort style town. It is a popular tourist attraction for Americans but it is also important to be aware of your surroundings and to not break the law. It is not a city, but use the same precautions as you would in any city, be aware, be smart and be safe! That being said, it is a popular tourist attraction and an area that people travel to on a regular basis and we are confident everyone will be safe. We know there has been a lot of stuff in the news recently in Mexico, but rest assured those locations are all very far from this area. We have spoken with our venue owner, wedding coordinators and transportation coordinator who all reassured us that they travel between San Diego and Rosarito multiple times a week and everything is running smoothly and there have been no issues. Our venue owner, Tim, said that we can pass along his telephone number to anyone who has concerns, so just let Steve or Amanda know if you would like his contact information to talk through anything!
For those of you that haven't used WhatsApp, it is a great *free* app that you can download to your phone that is an easy way to call/text with international numbers. We recommend downloading prior to coming down to Mexico in the event that you need to contact your hotel or a taxi company during your visit.
Look into international plans with your carrier if you are interested in having your service continue while in Mexico. Many carriers include Mexico and Canada for free. For example, we both have Verizon Unlimited plan and we have free data/messaging/roaming in Mexico. Make sure your roaming is set to "on" under cellular settings on your phone.
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app Maps. Make sure you're connected to the internet and not in Incognito mode. Search for a place, like "Las Gaviotas". At the bottom, tap the name or address of the place and then tap More and then Download offline map.
There are some markets/grocery stores along the highway nearby the accommodations. If you are using Ray Ochoa (listed under travel section) for transportation to/from San Diego International Airport, he said that passengers get one free stop either at a market to pick up food/drinks or to stop for lunch. Otherwise, you can use uber/taxis to get to markets, it would be a short 5-10 minute drive from any of the listed accommodations. Just FYI, there is no sidewalk along the main road that would make it walkable. However, there are some restaurants walking distance from most accommodations, take a look at the restaurant recommendation tab. REMINDER: stock up on bottled water from the store- we recommend using bottled water for all drinking/brushing teeth/etc.
You can contact Lupe Taxi at +52 661 111 3188 to get a taxi to/from wherever you are looking. This is trusted taxi contact that our venue uses regularly.
