Jon and I met online and decided to meet up for our first date on a Sunday night after Jon had gotten back from hunting. He loves to tell the story of how I walked right past him, not at all recognizing him. (It was COVID, there were masks involved). We had a great dinner and I left Orlando's that night thinking that this could be the start of something different. We were separated for a couple weeks shortly after due to the ugly word mentioned above...but went on our third date on New Year's Eve and we've been together ever since.
We bought our first home together in December after a whirlwind of selling our individual homes. On the night of closing, I told Jon I wanted to put my "home" sign up in our new place. We sat out on the back porch with a bottle of champagne and discussed how lucky we were to have found each other and to be in this place together. Jon then proposed to me under the big oak tree in our backyard. I love that our first memory in our new home was him asking me to spend the rest of my life with him.
