How did we meet?

"How are you here...?"

David and Amanda met at a mutual friend's house party one night in Fort Worth Texas on June 8th, 2019. The story goes that David walked into their friends place, a party in which they both later admitted that they had not planned on going to due to being tired (Amanda) or having other plans (David), and Amanda was already there. The second Amanda saw him, she had this strange feeling overcome her. She knew she was going to be with that man, and she had never felt that way based off a look at a complete stranger before. “Well hello God,” she thought to herself. They both spent the next little bit asking their friends (Mason and Matt) about each other and if they thought it would be a good match, but what they didn't know was that the other was also asking. David spent the whole night pursuing Amanda and very funny things happened that night: one being David accidentally giving his license to carry to a bouncer to enter a bar instead of his ID. You can imagine how this played out. Amanda naturally thought it was perfectly hilarious after realizing he was in fact not actually carrying. At the end of the night, David asked her to join him for late night breakfast at one of his favorite spots which became their first unofficial date spot: Ol' South Pancake House. While they were waiting for an uber, Amanda had to ask the question that had been burning in her head all night….She had thought to herself: everything about him is perfect; smart guy, paramedic, incredibly handsome, so kind, but he is from ALASKA... so how the heck is he here?! And so she asked him... David responded kindly, "What do you mean? I moved here for work." Amanda said, "Yessss but HOW are you hereeee?" very much implying what she was about to say next. "like are you here on a green card?" In that moment, supposedly Amanda started saying the 50 nifty United States song and realized she really screwed up, and that Alaska is very much part of the United States. David laughed really hard. Amanda was incredibly embarrassed and proceeded to tell him that she completely understood if he never wanted to see her again. David thought it was adorable and hysterical and still took her to late night breakfast. They spent the entire rest of the night and into the early morning sharing history and bonding over shared goals for the future. A week and a half later on June 19th 2019, David asked Amanda to be his girlfriend with a self arranged bouquet of JMU colored flowers in a giant Buc-ee’s tumbler and the rest as we all know it is history. Every year after that, on June 19th, David "renewed his green card,” and last year, on November 20th 2022, David became a permanent resident of Amanda's heart.
