For those that need something to explore in our hometown, look no further than dear old Bristol. While exploring Bristol, walk downtown for quaint, boutique shopping, and delicious, local favorites (For the oyster fan, check out one of our favorite places - Bristol Oyster Bar for a fresh, delicious bite). There's also the Bike Path, Colt State Park, Mount Hope Farm, and the Audubon Center to those looking to explore. ALSO, be sure to go to Mount Hope Farm on Saturday morning from 10 - 1 pm for a great farmer's market! Want more recommendations? Check out: -The Statesmen Tavern - Our favorite restaurants with an incredible chef who never lets us down with food and drinks -Chomp Kitchen - Best burgers in town (Although the restaurant is located in the town right next door to us)! These are the most creative, juiciest, mouth-watering burgers you can imagine. Just don't forget to replenish your thirst with a refreshing craft beer or creative cocktail.
Newport is famous for its mansions, shopping, Tennis Hall of Fame, restaurants and beaches, but did you know there are so many other exciting things to try out? Not only does Newport have the Cliff Walk for those looking for exercise on the ocean, but they also have great breweries and vineyards just miles within one another. Cam and Amanda love going to Newport Storm and Thomas Tew Rum to tour their facility, as well as spend the day Newport Vineyards who are currently brewing up some delicious beers through Taproot Brewing, Co. Check out the Things To Do tab on the Newport website to discover other fun activities and goings-on. Word of advice: The beaches are great but the temperature is generally a lot lower than the daily temp in Providence, so make sure to bring a sweatshirt just in case the winds pick up, or a cozy blanket for snuggling.
Providence may just like any other city - amazing food, great night-life, incredible museums, etc, but it is much more than that! Providence is the best-kept secret when it comes to mouth-watering Italian food (Look on Federal Hill for some true Italian bites), delicious baked pastries (Seven Stars Bakery, Knead Donuts, PVDonuts - we like our donuts), and eclectic and authentic fair (Ogie's Trailer Park, Nick's on Broadway, and The Grange). For some great sight-seeing, walk through downtown Providence or along the Riverwalk, or walk through the Rhode Island School of Design museums for impressive collections in historic buildings. Cam and Amanda also recommend The Duck and Bunny for brunch, Sienna for a classic Italian dinner, Pastiche for an espresso along with tiramisu.
This cute and quaint little village is right down the street from where we will be celebrating our nuptials! Check out this little slice of Rhode Island heaven before or after we party the night away! Our wedding weekend also happens to coincide with the Arts & Crafts Festival http://www.gaspee.com/events/arts. With over 100,000 attendees and incredible vendors, this event is not to miss!
I get it, all of this fun requires a little R & R and what could be more relaxing than a beautiful drive through Tiverton to an adorable center of town full of artists and antique dealers? Want to skip on through? Well, just continue on driving until you get into Little Compton where you'll see more and more farm stands and less and less people. I highly recommend stopping in at Gray's Ice Cream for some blueberry deliciouness, the Provender for a great local bite, and Evelyn's for the local catch, fried to perfection!
