We first crossed paths at what used to be known as Ole Tymer’s in Fort Payne, Alabama. Amanda was in nursing school at the time and Antwon was living in Fort Payne. After some frustrating car trouble, a college friend recommended a fun evening to make up for it. Amanda was sitting at a table when Antwon came over and confidently sat next to her. Amanda tried to act like she wasn’t interested but stayed long enough for laughing and dancing that night until it was way late in the evening. It didn’t take long for them to see each other again. They each showed each other their lives through their eyes. Sharing music, movies, wine, and hobbies. Two very different worlds but yet it all always worked out. As time went on, a family grew. Those years of parenting together and establishing a future and foundation were nothing short of challenging. Through the whirlwind of life, both chose to be forgiving, encouraging, and communicative. Grew our weaknesses. Challenged each other to be better and not settle for an unhappy life or relationship. Persevered in our careers with each one at the others side celebrating the entire way. The evening of November 30th, we planned on heading downtown to a Christmas festival. We bundled up and watched the boats decked with lights go by. Following the boats was a scheduled firework show. Amanda was holding Kalani tight to stay warm and it was the first firework show that she truly thought was so pretty! In the middle of this beautiful display, Amanda received a tap on the shoulder, in which, she looked quite puzzled at first. Then, looking down, there Antwon was… on one knee. It was like everything around us disappeared. The shock that this moment was finally here. This love has been growing for a long time. We are over the moon excited to celebrate the union of two people who just seem to complete each other. We are both excited to continue this journey by each others sides.
