U.S. travelers: As of 12:01 AM ET on June 12, 2022, CDC will no longer require air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the U.S. to show a negative COVID-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board their flight.
You do not need a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination to enter Mexico. However, make sure to have your vaccination card in case local requirements are different.
If you confirmed your attendance through https://www.zola.com/wedding/amanda-jose0805/rsvp you can always come back to the same website and update your hotel reservation #. Even though the reservation # is not a mandatory field, we will eventually ask for it as the wedding planner needs it. Based on our experience, you are allowed to edit your RSVP details up to four times. It is extremely important to remember to give us your reservation number once you have it. For example, you can RSVP today and come back a few days later to enter your reservation #.
First, RSVP through https://www.zola.com/wedding/amanda-jose0805/rsvp and book your hotel at the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas (note we will need your reservation #, but you can always come back after RSVPing and edit your entry to include the reservation #). Second, book your flight (we recommend arriving at least on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 because the wedding is the next day). Third, make sure to have your passport ready for travel.
Go to the RSVP section or copy/paste the following link: https://www.zola.com/wedding/amanda-jose0805/rsvp. There is a free-text field where you will enter FIRST NAME + LAST NAME of the person on the guest list. For example, if Jane Doe is the person on the guest list, type "Jane Doe" and click continue. If your significant other or family member(s) is not already listed under your name, please go ahead and add them when you RSVP.
Contact us if you would like to add a guest, but their name is not listed on the RSVP page. Here's an EXAMPLE using ourselves as guests: If Amanda is the main guest, Jose's name would show up under her profile when attempting to RSVP. Here's an EXAMPLE where there would be an issue: Amanda RSVPs but Jose never appears under her profile. Based on our RSVPs, we have Amanda but we're missing Jose for the seating arrangements.
Yes, you will need a passport if you are a U.S. citizen. Once you RSVP, please make it a priority to get a new passport if you've never had one (or renew a passport that is expired/about to expire).
If you've never had a U.S. passport, please make a passport appointment ASAP because they are usually booked months ahead of time. People usually make their appointments at USPS offices. Some USPS offices have walk-in appointments available starting at 8:00 am (though you should get there at 6:00 am). If you are renewing your passport, you can download the passport renewal application (or pick it up at a USPS) and mail it. Pro tip: You can print your passport photos at a CVS or Walgreens (some USPS offices do not provide passport photo services). After mailing your application, it can take 8--11 weeks to get your passport (5--7 weeks if you pay an extra fee to expedite it).
You do not need a visa to travel to Mexico if you are a U.S. citizen. However, when you are about to land in Mexico, the flight attendant will provide the "Official Entry Immigration Form" so have a pen handy. This form will ask for your contact information, hotel address, and flight number. If you don't get the Official Entry Immigration Form before landing, it will be provided at the airport for free. The Mexican immigration authorities will keep part of the form--make sure to not throw away the other part of the form as you will need it to exit the country. If you lose this form you will pay a small fee.
Airport Name: Los Cabos International Airport. Code: SJD. Address: Carr. Transpeninsular Km 43.5, 23420 San José del Cabo, B.C.S., Mexico.
San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are two different cities that are next to each other. When we say "Los Cabos" or "Cabo" we often refer to the region that contains both cities. San José del Cabo is a traditional town ideal for a quiet getaway. On the other hand, Cabo San Lucas has lots of resorts and bars catering to late-night crowds.
We don't recommend booking at a separate hotel because you will have to pay $100 per person to enter the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas. Keep in mind you will also have to arrange for transportation.

Yes. The wedding is on a Friday and you can book your hotel for additional days. As mentioned in previous sections, we recommend scheduling activities after the wedding so you're not sunburned.
Although nothing has been formalized, we do anticipate some guests will stay until Sunday and book additional activities. Check out the "Things To Do" section on this Zola website.
You should not bring a present to Cabo San Lucas as we don't have a way of taking it back to Chicago. If you'd like to purchase a gift, please visit our registry by clicking the "registry" tab above.
Highly recommended: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat with UV protection, and credit cards/cash (US dollars). Recommended: Waterproof dry bag and a portable charger.
We haven't decided but might consider creating one depending on people's interests. We understand it might come in handy since most of you will be departing from Texas or know each other and want to book group activities.

Although cash should be accepted outside of the hotel, you should bring a credit card (preferably Visa or Mastercard with no foreign transaction fees). This is helpful because foreign transaction fees are usually 3% of the total value of the transaction. Make sure to also let your bank or credit card company know you will be traveling. Otherwise, you run the risk of getting your credit cards locked.
