Attire options: Our reception is “Gatsby” themed. Cocktail attire is great! OR, we’d love to see women in 1920's flapper dresses, feathers, or pearls. To the men asking about Gatsby attire, ideas from the 20's being a topcoat, gold or silver tie, suspenders, or hats.

Our Engagement Story

March 15, 2022

This past spring Howie & Alyssa planned a trip to Disney World. On the way to the airport, Alyssa gave Howie a FIT because he had not proposed to her after 6 years of dating. Since they were on their way to DISNEY WORLD (The happiest place on Earth) she didn’t want to create an argument, she knew they were going to have the best time. Little did she know, that for several months, Howie had already asked her parents, and purchased a ring...and he was bringing it with them to Disney World. On the first day at the park, they ended the day at Magic Kingdom in front of the Castle to watch the fireworks. It was Alyssa’s first time watching since being a child, and she wanted to be front and center. She picked a spot as close as she could get. They had to save their spot an hour before the fireworks, and while they were waiting it started to rain. Announcements were made that the fireworks may be cancelled that evening due to the storm. But Howie had to propose that day, because little did Alyssa know, he asked her family to fly out, and they were at the park too (hiding behind another family). As the BIG MOMENT approached, it started pouring sideways, the wind was blowing. The crowd put up their umbrellas and jackets, and Alyssa & Howie put on the only cover they had: their hiking hats. Then BZZ BZZ, everyone’s cell phones beeped an emergency alert to “TAKE SHELTER NOW” because of a Severe Tornado Warning. The odds were against Howie, poor guy... a few minutes passed and the rain eases to a light sprinkle. Just when they thought the fireworks would be called off, they started igniting. She didn’t know it, but to her right, he had got down on his knee and asked, “I’m sorry it took this long, but I wanted the moment to be just right. Will you marry me?” Shocked, Alyssa broke down, and gave him a big hug while he was still on his knee. Tears falling down her cheek, she began to reply yes, and Howie pointed behind her and said, “and, look who else made it!” Her family emerged behind them with rain jackets on, cameras rolling, and Howie’s mom on FaceTime. After the second shock of seeing her family, she finally got to finish replying, “YES!” It was the best moment of their lives. After six years, and after Howie’s friends telling him to propose soon or Alyssa would dump him, he finally did it. He knew just how she wanted a proposal to be" in the moment”. A proposal didn’t need a photographer, a cute outfit, or nails to be done... the perfect proposal was watching fireworks after a tornado warning, soaked from the rain, and in the moment. It was perfect.
