On July 27, 2019, we drove to Lake Toxaway with Reggie for a summer hike. But when we got there, the waterfall hike Cody wanted to take was inaccessible due to a large swarm of hornets. There was another trail, one that led to a separate waterfall he'd never been to. Cody tried to find a hike-around route through the woods for the original waterfall, and when Alyssa refused, we hiked to Greenland Creek Falls. The hike involved some rain, plummeting temperatures, and a whole lot of mud, but it was worth it. At the end, we were completely alone at a gorgeous waterfall - just us and our dog. Cody proposed there and we laughed, took pictures, and played with Reg on the rocks with no one else around. It was so perfect and private that we lost track of time and had to hike out at dusk, chasing the last rays of daylight.
We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with our closest friends and family in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the place we fell in love - hiking mountains, playing in streams, and scaling waterfalls. Join us for a weekend of enjoying nature in the middle of Pisgah National Forest.
