Bride
If you don't know who this is, why are you here? Alyssa is a dog enthusiast, an alarmist, an introvert, a portrait artist, a recovering people pleaser, a certified member of the grammar police, and the queen of sarcasm. She has to constantly be reminded that this is HER wedding and not for everyone else. She's been saving up her social battery all year for this and is ready to tie the knot with her better half.
Groom
Texas transplant groom with a heart of gold. He cooks, he cleans, he helps people with special needs, he loves dogs and cats, he's down for a romantic comedy (or any comedy), he's adventurous, and at the end of the day, he would still love you even if you were a worm. And best of all, he's taken and about to make it official with the woman who completes him.
Matron of Honor
Alyssa's oldest friend. Shiann and Alyssa have been planning each other's weddings since 1999 and Shiann already knew she was Alyssa's Matron of Honor before Alyssa called her to ask. She doubles as official wedding security and the Sister from Another Mister, the second daughter of The Perez Family.
Man of Honor
Alyssa's younger brother and best friend. As an avid weapons collector, Muay Thai student, and probably best known for being the Boy Who Had All the Allergies, Mitch is technically Alyssa's first kid since six years separate the two and Alyssa decided when he was born that she would be his second mom. He makes her laugh even on her worst days.
Best Man
The guy with all the hidden talents, Pat is one of the first friends Clay met when moving to Colorado and is also one of his best. Yodeling, saxophone playing, card games, helping move furniture, going to escape rooms, soaking in hot springs, Pat's down for it all and is always one quick phone call away for adventure.
Bridesmaid
Alyssa's college friend and travel buddy. They met and bonded over their mutual lack of understanding of the subject matter in an English class in 2015. Through their late 20s they built many porch forts together and eventually took a trip to Scotland and as novice hikers, hiked a mountain in a rain storm, and got commemorative tattoos in the aftermath.
Groomsman
A pandemic pal. Clay met Spencer at a local Wine Wednesday a Facebook group was having and took to him immediately because he was outgoing and welcoming. They're doing the old switcheroo in having Spencer as a groomsman to Clay when it was the other way around three years ago. He introduced Clay to Freemasonry, which Clay attributes to becoming the stronger, better, faith-driven man he is today.
Bridesmaid
One of Clay's friends he met over Covid, Coleen got the chance to meet Alyssa shortly after Clay and Alyssa started dating and quickly became a close friend. She is an independent book store owner and creative genius who writes her own murder mysteries and is always up for anything fantastical.
Groomsman
Protective of and loyal to his friends, Happie's extroverted-ness rubbed off on Clay when they first met over the pandemic and helped him step outside of his comfort zone. As the outgoing life of the party, Happie helped Clay find that drive to push for what he wanted, including taking his shot to ask out a girl on Hinge and now they're about to be married. Eternal thanks to Happie for giving Clay that push.
Bridesmaid
Recently engaged and looking to tie the knot with her fiancé Malcolm in 2027, Jamie is all heart, adventurous, inventive, and the sort of friend everyone should have. She met Clay and Alyssa at a Halloween party in 2022, but who knew she would be so crucial in helping Clay to plan his proposal to Alyssa?
Groomsman
With a voice to match Chris Stapleton (though not stuck in one musical genre), Derrick's passion is music. Though he calls Kentucky home, he has lived in Denver for several years and hosts karaoke as is befitting of his talents. He has come through on numerous occasions for Clay and Alyssa from helping move to being designated dog sitter at parties.
Groomsman
Terry and Clay met during the process to become Masonic Brothers. Warm, inviting, and wise beyond his years, he's endlessly inquisitive about the universe and is a constant role model to Clay with his advice in business growth as well as self-growth.
Flower Guy/Bubble Boy
It was best buds at first sight. Khan transferred to Alyssa's school halfway through sixth grade and by the end of the year, they were the Dynamic Duo of introverts who sat in the corner, kept their heads down, and occasionally said something wildly inappropriate. After moving to Florida for college, Khan flew back home numerous times to surprise Alyssa for birthdays or just come and see his best friend until he finally moved back in spring of 2023. Winner of the Perez-Stokum Halloween Costume Contest two years running, a second uncle to the dogs, and the Perez Family's third son, Khan will always be Alyssa's best "Dude".
Flower Guy/Bubble Boy
As just the sort of suave and charming individual who could pull off the role of flower guy, Jason HAD to take on this role. He was one of the first to commission a portrait from Alyssa and encourage her artistic endeavors. He and Clay met over Covid and was introduced to Alyssa in late 2022 and has always been a huge supporter of both the bride and groom. He moonlights as a canvas for Alyssa to practice face and body painting on.
Mother of the Bride
The woman who doesn't age, blessed with that timeless Chamorro skin that she didn't pass on to any of her children, Cecilia has the name that no Starbucks employee has ever spelled correctly. She'll be a mess the day of the wedding, but she knows her little girl will always come home every week to see her. Also Lead Dancer for the Electric Slide come party time.
Father of the Bride
The Dog Father, Monte can be found wherever his Golden Girls are. With no grandchildren of his own yet, he's reluctantly accepted the working title of "Peepo" to his dog grandchildren who get awfully excited to go to "Nani and Peepo's house". People say Alyssa favors her mom, but the whole family doesn't see it when Alyssa is a carbon copy of her dad from the face to the pasty white legs.
Mother of the Groom
Judy is the epitome of southern hospitality and a sweetheart to boot. It's always hard having your kids live far from you and especially hard having your only child live so far as well, but she's proud of her son for the life he's made for himself in Denver and hopes to move up from Carlsbad soon so she can be closer to her grandpuppies (and Clay too, of course). She's also gaining a daughter on wedding day!
Father of the Groom
An adventurer, a teacher, and a man who's not afraid to wear a Buc-ee's onesie on a plane, Mike is the resident storyteller with tales for days. Soft-spoken and full of wisdom, he can still tear up the dance floor if he wants to (he doesn't want to).
Ring Bearer
The newest fluffy member of the family, the pup who chose Alyssa after Alyssa lost her soul dog Echo in late 2024. Will sit pretty for treats and never any other time. Also answers to "Munchkin" and "Diggens".
Ring Bearer
If Al Capone was a dog and always looked sad, that's Stanley. Our oldest fluffy child, the best, goodest (only) boy, and our resident whiner. You'll likely hear him at some point during the ceremony.
Honorary Ring Bearer
The most unenthusiastic-faced pup of the bunch. She's happy on the inside...somewhere. Our Big Chungus, also known as Dinky, she will gladly take anything you give her and parade it around. You can look, but you can't touch whatever she has.
Honorary Ring Bearer
The middle child of the Goldens, the most affectionate, and the one who will likely steal something from someone at some point during the reception. And no, you can't have it back.
Officiant
A fellow dog lover, Alyssa's coworker, and with an appreciation for a good comedy like Clay, Zane is the perfect choice for an officiant. When not marrying off couples, he can be spotted walking the golf course.
Usher
The oldest Perez child, an Air Force vet, and pop culture enthusiast, look for Andrew to guide you to your seat.
