Travel Note
Flight
There are 4 different arrival options for your dream trip to Italy. We recommend embracing the adventure and plan on stopping at various locations along the way. This is the time to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, the grapes. Bologna (2hr drive to Treia) Marconi International Airport is a great little airport that is easily accessible with one layover in a major European hub like London Heathrow or Frankfurt International through major airline groups such as Star Alliance and OneWorld. If you chose this option, it's an easy 2:30 hour drive into the Treia area via a very navigable freeway. Florence (3hr drive to Treia) Amerigo Vespucci International is, like Bologna, easily reachable via a 1 layover flight from the West Coast or nonstop from East Coast hubs. It's a small, modern airport that's very straightforward to navigate. It's perfect to stop off in Tuscany to taste the local fare. Rome (3hr drive to Treia) Leonardo Da Vinci International is the biggest airport in Italy and has nonstop options from both coasts. It's just under a 3 hour drive to Treia. Ancona (1hr drive to Treia) If you'd like to land immediately into the Le Marche region, Ancona International is a cutey baby airport that has several 1 layover options. It's super small but is ultra-convenient as its a just under 1 hour drive to Treia. They have all the major rental car companies.
Rental Car
We highly recommend renting a car from the airport of your choice when you land in Italy to adventure around Le Marche and the surrounding regions. We've found that driving in Italy (especially outside of major city centers) is easy and very straightforward. If Alyssa can do it, you can too! Rental cars are pretty economical and allow you to stop off at wineries, cafes and other sites whenever you'd like. During our recent 1 week visit, we drove the route from Bologna > Treia > Assisi > Perugia > Florence and found it all super accessible and easy to navigate.
Train
Italy is incredibly accessible by train. If you're nervous about grabbing a rental car via a major city like Rome or Florence, we recommend hopping on a train to Perugia or Foligno and grabbing your rental car there! Perugia is just over an hour drive to Treia!
House Or Rental
We understand that finding the perfect place to stay is an important part of your travel plans, and we're happy to share that Treia offers a variety of accommodation options to suit every preference and budget. Whether you're looking for charming bed and breakfasts, entire villas, elegant hotels, or cozy vacation rentals, you'll find plenty of choices in and around Treia. For a more immersive experience, consider staying in one of the local agriturismos, where you can enjoy the beautiful countryside and authentic Italian hospitality. For those who prefer modern amenities, there are several well-rated hotels in nearby towns just a short drive away.
