We've been watching the coronavirus situation closely, and all though we are not out of the woods, there is hope for larger gatherings in the future! With that in mind, we have decided to have a two-part wedding! Part one will be an intimate ceremony on July 2021 in Kitchener, ON, with a live stream! Part two will be a blowout with all our friends and family in 2022. We look forward to celebrating with you and we are sending you all love and wishes for good health.
We met while attending graduate school at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. While studying and meeting new people, they quickly realized that Cory lived in the apartment directly below Alyssa. In the afternoons while Alyssa sat in her room looking out over the Bay and reading, she could hear Cory singing and playing the guitar in the room below. She loved being able to hear him practice the songs he wrote and the songs he loves. It wasn't long before we were hanging out together, sharing meals, listening to music, singing, dancing, and laughing!
It was a Tuesday like any other in April, chilly but still beautiful. We had only been in Canda for four months and we were finally starting to feel at home. On this day, we had an appointment to bottle our first batch of wine and were excited to spend a nice relaxing day together. On a whim, Cory had suggested we go on a walk and drove us to the Huron Natural Area. With the chill of winter still in the air, we walked the trail, paused by the lake and watched as the birds played in the water. There was a giant rock and Cory helped Alyssa get on it so she could enjoy the view better. As she watched, with Cory hugging her from behind, she remarked at how beautiful it was. He responded by saying "almost as beautiful as you." When Alyssa turned around to thank him and give him a kiss, there in his hand was a beautiful box with a ring! He asked her to marry her and she said "yes"! Gleefully we continued our walk and made plans to celebrate; including buying Cory his own ring and going to a new (and now our favorite) Chinese restaurant. It was truly a perfect day!
