Question

Please Read :) Wedding Day Information

Answer

The ceremony will take place at 3:30pm at St. Joseph's Church. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early. The church is historic and very small, so please be advised that there is only one small bathroom that is located in front of the stage/altar area and accessibility might be limited before and after the wedding ceremony. The Reception will be held outside at the Virginia Point Inn. The Church and the Inn are located two blocks from one another. Guests are welcome to walk or drive from the Church to the Inn as their comfort level allows. There is a free parking lot located diagonally from the Inn. If a guest is traveling with a car and they prefer to walk to the venues, they could park by the Inn, walk two blocks to the church, and then following the ceremony, they could walk two blocks back to the Inn and be located close to their car following the reception. Alcohol will be served at the reception. We recommend using an uber or car lift service if you choose to drink :)

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your kids, but this is an adult only ceremony and reception :)

Question

What Should I wear?

Answer

This is a semi-formal event. Please keep in mind that the reception will take place outside. Sensible shoes might be recommend if you plan to walk from the church to the Inn. The garden area will be grassy.

Question

Flight Planning: Travel Time from Hobby Airport vs. Bush Intercontinental

Answer

Hobby Airport is located 42 miles away from the wedding venue, that's about 50 minutes depending on traffic. Bush Intercontinental is located north of downtown Houston and is located 58 miles away and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to depending on traffic.

Question

Is there public transportation? Should I rent a car?

Answer

Unfortunately, there isn't any type of public transportation that's easily accessible to get from Houston to Galveston. The easiest and most affordable option would most likely be to rent a car. Ubers are available. There are parts of Galveston that are easily walkable, (Downtown Strand Area- East End Galveston). Finding parking at various locations on the island is fairly easy and affordable.

Question

Which Hotel Should I stay at? What part of the island should I find a hotel, vacation rental?

Answer

We have included some recomendations for some locally owned, and unique/historic hotels on the island; however, we also understand these can be kind of pricey. There are larger well known chain hotels located on the Seawall, like the Hilton, Holiday Inn Express, and Double Tree-Hilton. If you prefer to stay in a vacation rental, Galveston has a lot to choose from. If you would like to stay close to where we live and the downtown/historic area, we recommend staying within a few miles of the venue's location. There are beach houses available to rent; however, many of them are located further west on the island, around 30 minutes or so from downtown. (There are fewer restaurants and bars located the further west you go.)

Question

Should I pack a bathing suit?

Answer

Yes! There's a high likelihood that it will still be warm enough to hang out at the beach and take a dip in the ocean!

Question

General Info About Galveston

Answer

Galveston is a Barrier Island on the Gulf Coast, and is located about 50 miles southeast of Houston. The island is 27 miles long and 3 miles wide. (We have one of the longest continuous sidewalks- "The Seawall" This walkway is approximately 10.3 miles long and runs alongside the beachfront. The Seawall was constructed following the devastating 1900 Storm, and is considered an early 20th century engineering feat. The population is around 53,000 people. The island remains fairly diverse with families, retirees, vacationers, college students (A&M Maritime & UTMB Medical School) and the rest of us year round folks that work on the island! Galveston is known for its history, historic architecture (mostly victorian), beaches, maritime industry, and many other attractions. We hope you enjoy your stay!
