Alysha was Scott's teaching assistant in a COM100 course at SUNY Oswego in 2011, but they didn't realize that until years later when they actually met. Scott was finishing up his last semester at Oswego in the fall of 2012, and Alysha would visit Oswego on the weekends to see old friends. The first time they met, Scott stopped over to a mutual friend's house where Alysha also happened to be. They noticed each other immediately, but Scott didn't stay long, so not much came of their first meeting. Just a week or so later they ran into each other at another friend's house, and this time Scott had a young Lexi dog with him, just 3 years old at the time. She's not the only reason Alysha was drawn to him, but she certainly helped! To this day, they still credit her with helping them fall in love. They were able to chat a bit more and a spark was ignited, after which a Facebook message was sent and the rest is history. Fun fact: Scott and Alysha still communicate mostly on Facebook messenger when they're not together...must be out of habit.
At first during the stereotypical non-committal phase, Alysha would refer to Scott as the "dog guy," knowing full well she wanted to be with him, but not quite admitting it just yet. After a couple months of seeing each other they decided to make things official on Valentine's Day of 2013, after accepting that this was more serious than either of them would initially admit. Not long after, they decided to move in together in an apartment back in Oswego in May of 2013. Some people thought they were a bit crazy, having only officially dated for around 3 months. They took the plunge anyway, and 6 months later they were headed out to Rochester following Scott's new job offer at Channel 8 News. They've moved around in the Rochester area a few times since then, building a life together with friends and family. Life has evolved a lot during that time: jobs, pets, travel, music, vacations, loss, tv shows, disc golfing, weddings, a pandemic...they've grown up together from their 20s into their 30s, learning a lot along the way but never doubting their love for each other. Almost 10 years down the line, and they now have been living in their Fairport home for 4 years with their fur children: Breezy, Nova, and of course (now over the rainbow bridge) Lexi.
