One of our favorite restaurants, Festiva serves both traditional and inventive Mexican food. And their margaritas are out of this world!
Crown Hill is a historic cemetery right down the street from Aaron and Alysha's home. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, contains the highest point in Indianapolis from which you can see the downtown skyline, and is a great location for walking and biking. Many well-known people are buried here, including 23rd President Benjamin Harrison and the infamous John Dillinger. If you ask, Alysha may even show you where her extended family from the 1800s is buried!
If you plan to visit Crown Hill or are anywhere near our house, we recommend Hoagies and Hops. Two blocks north of our house, they are our local sandwich shop, serving PA style hoagies & cheesesteaks. They share a space with Chilly Water Tap Room, one of our favorite local breweries.
Greek's is hands-down our favorite pizza place. Serving amazing pizza, fabulous breadsticks, and local beer. If you go, make sure to check out the upstairs taproom! (And if you aren't on the north side of town, they have another location on 16th St.!)
A popular spot in downtown, Mass Ave is lined with art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and bars, including Silver in the City, where Aaron bought Alysha's engagement ring! There's too many businesses we like to name them all, but be warned that this popular street can get pretty crowded in the evening due to the number of bars and restaurants. We recommend walking shoes.
If you do visit Mass Ave, Alysha recommends checking out Silver in the City. They are a local gift store selling jewelry, housewares, and other unconventional items. A perfect spot to find a unique or Indy-themed gift (for yourself or a loved one!)
When Aaron and Alysha both worked downtown, they would takes walks together along the canal on their lunch breaks every day. It also passes by many of Indianapolis' museums, many of which Alysha has worked at in the past.
The very heart of downtown Indy. Follow the Cultural Trail through downtown and swing by to see Soldiers and Sailors Monument. If the monument is open, check out the observation deck for a great view of downtown.
