Things to Do

The Stockholm areas

Sweden

Kungsholmen Chill vibes: Lakeside picnics, City Hall views, and serene parks. Perfect for relaxing by the water. Do not miss Rålambshovsparken or Fredhällsbadet, this is pretty much the only places worth seeing in this area. Vasastan Artsy charm: Leafy parks, cozy cafes, and vintage shops. Do not miss Rörstrandsgatan, a steet with outdoor restaurants and lovely evening vibes. Also treat youself to a classic Swedish cinnamon bun at Lillebrors Bageri. Östermalm Get your wallets out: Luxury shopping, gourmet dining, and lush parks. Sophisticated and elegant. This is the area where Alva grew up and hosted endless parties, this is where her "open door policy" mindset was planted... if you listen really closely you might still hear the echoes of the music at Östermalmstorg. Södermalm Hipster heaven: Trendy cafes, vintage stores, and street art. Edgy and buzzing with energy. Do not miss Ivar Skinnarviksberget, a lovely spot with breathtaking views of Stockholm's skyline.

Stockholm Archipelago

Stockholm Archipelago

Fjäderholmarna, Fjäderholmarna, Stockholms län 111 15, Sweden

Take a boat trip to explore the stunning archipelago, which consists of almost 1 million islands. You can visit Fjäderholmarna for a day-trip by taking a short boatride from Stockholm city centre. On the island you can relax on the cliffs, cool off in the ocean and enjoy good food and drinks at the local restaurant offering delicacies from the Swedish ocean.

Cool off with a swim

Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm offers plenty opportunities to spend a day in the sun by the water. Below are some of our favourites! Fredhällsbadet: Located on Kungsholmen, this spot offers sun-warmed cliffs that slope down into Lake Mälaren. It's perfect for sunbathing and swimming with a beautiful view over the lake. Smedsuddsbadet: This urban beach is located on Kungsholmen next to Rålambshovsparken. It's a popular spot with a sandy beach and plenty of grassy areas for relaxing. Långholmen Strandbad: Situated on the island of Långholmen, this family-friendly beach has a sandy beach and grass areas for sunbathing. It's a great spot for picnics and leisure activities. Tanto Strandbad: Located at the end of Drakenbergsparken on Södermalm, this recently built bathing place offers diving towers and bathing jetties. Brunnsvikens Strandbad: Found on northern Djurgården, this beach offers floating jetties and bathing rafts for a unique swimming experience.

Djurgården

Djurgården

Djurgården, Stockholm, Stockholms län, Sweden

Djurgården is a lovely island in the middle of Stockholm. It is known for being packed with museums such as ABBA: The Museum, were you can browse memorabilia, old records and costumes of our Swedish legends, who are so beloved by our Dutchies. And then there is Skansen which is an open-air museum, where you can find craftspeople and reconstructed homes depicting Swedish life through the history. Ferries dock next to Gröna Lund amusement park, known for its thrill rides and summer concerts. We strongly recommend a trip here if you want to see some nature in the middle of the city.

Gamla stan / Old Town

Gamla stan / Old Town

Västerlånggatan, Stockholm, Stockholms län, Sweden

Gamla Stan is one of the most iconic places in Stockholm. We went here on Sanders first visit to Sweden ever and enjoyed a slightly overpriced coffee for €20. The island is definitely a tourist trap but for a good reason, we strongly think that a first trip to Sweden requires a visit to Gamla Stan. You can go here for a lunch enjoying the Nordic cuisine, and admire the cobbled streets and colorful architecture from the 17th century. It’s also home to the Swedish Royal Palace.
