Climb the Mount
One of the most iconic beach spots in New Zealand, climb to the top for an amazing view. Stop by one of the many cafes at the bottom for a treat after or grab an ice cream and walk along the beach.
Papamoa Hills Regional Park
Walking tracks close to our house and where Michael proposed. Trails lead up to historic pā sites. The trails are on an active farm so you can expect to see sheep and cattle close by.
Rotorua
Rotorua is a town about 1 hour drive from Tauranga with lots of outdoor activities from world class mountain biking and hiking to geothermal tours. We suggest renting a mountain bike (they have ebikes too) and going around the "Forest Loop" to see the best of Rotorua.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing
Iconic hike that passes by "Mount Doom." This is about 4 hours drive from our house. In May you could encounter snow as this is an alpine environment.
