Due to the new restrictions placed on gatherings and Governor Ige and Mayor Blangiardi’s announcement about hospitals being at risk of not being able to provide adequate care for patients in need of emergency care, we were forced to make the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding scheduled for Lanikuhonua on September 12. It was a difficult and heartbreaking decision but ultimately one that we had to make after considering the governor, mayor, and lieutenant governor’s request from the public to do their part to protect our keikis and vulnerable population. We really wanted to thank each and every one of you for all of your support. We are so blessed to have such amazing family and friends who have helped us and supported us through this whole process. Both of us are ready to move on to the next phase in our lives and look forward to celebrating with everyone in a different way!
Hi everyone! Thank you for being so patient and understanding as we figure the details of the new Covid related rules for the state and venue. As stated in the previous post, the state is requiring all guests 5 years of age or older to show proof of vaccination or provide a negative covid test taken within 48 hours. Please feel free to email us at alohaoketanis@gmail.com or text either of us this information or questions ahead of time so that you don't need to show it at the venue and can concentrate on partying! Please include: - An email address for your party (if not emailing us as an email address is required to be on file per party) - First and last names of all those in your party attending - Pictures of vaccination cards OR please note those who will be providing documentation at the venue Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Following the new requirements for holding larger gatherings by the state (in addition to the requirements we pointed out in the last post), there are a few additional notes that we need to share: - All guests will need to show proof of full vaccination (People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 when more than two weeks has passed since receiving the second dose in a two dose series, or more than two weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine) -A completed vaccination card [which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided and date last dose administered] in original, photocopied, or digital form; or other similar vaccination documentation from a healthcare provider are acceptable proof of vaccination. - IF you aren't vaccinated, prior to entry, each non-vaccinated attendee must present a negative result from an FDA EUA or approved molecular or an antigen test conducted within 48 hours before the event start time We will work with out wedding planners to organize a streamlined way to collect all of these vaccination/negative test results from everyone so we will let you know ASAP how to submit that to us for record. - Regarding children: Children 4 years of age or younger do not need to show proof of vaccination or negative test however children 5 or older will need to show a negative test. Please know that we would love to have all of you celebrate with us but we are required to follow these strict guidelines in order for us to continue with the event.
We're one month away! In March, we made the difficult last minute decision to cancel our original wedding plans due to the rapidly evolving nature as the pandemic quickly shuttered everything across the nation. Instead, we exchanged marriage vows in an intimate ceremony with our immediate family. But we still want to eat, drink, and dance the night away with you! We hope that you will be able to join us for a celebratory vow renewal and belated reception currently scheduled for May 1 2021!
Dear Friends and Family, We have made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding reception due to the coronavirus outbreak. Your health and safety is ultimately our top priority. We will exchange vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by 12 immediate family members on Saturday and will be having a reception May 2021 to celebrate, drink, and dance with everyone. We’ll keep you updated with details in the coming month. Thank you for all your love and support, we are extraordinarily grateful to have such wonderful friends and family who have been nothing but patient, kind, and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Love, Julia & Jordon
We met while training for the Seattle Marathon through our mutual friend Jodee, Jordon’s close friend from high school and Julia’s coworker at the time, and the rest was history! We quickly bonded over a mutual love of running, eating, seeking out new experiences, and traveling when our schedules allowed. When we reflect on our relationship through the years, we just really cherish the fact that we share the most ordinary life together and enjoy every moment of it!
With the help of our close friend Sean, Jordon planned a very sweet and meaningful proposal. We were back at Chambers Bay, where we had left a love lock (think Ponte des Arts in Paris!) way back in 2014. Jordon got down on one knee and proposed while we were “taking pictures on our double date” and presented a new lock with our engagement date engraved on it. To make things even sweeter, Jordon had hired a very talented musician to pose as a busker on the bridge and she sang Train’s “Marry Me” while Jordon proposed. Why this song? It has always been a running joke in our relationship that Julia has been to way too many Train concerts for her age.
