Most people don't realize that Austin is the Capital of Texas. The state Capitol building is located right in the middle of downtown, and is built from gorgeous Texas pink limestone. If you're into history or architecture, it's worth a visit.
Zilker is a huge park right in central Austin, and also where the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival is held. It's a great place for a picnic on the field, or you can take little ones to their awesome playground.

Great spot to grab a drink and take in the low-key vibes of South Congress. Drinks are great, but don't sleep on the wings!

Bomb breakfast tacos! Need we say more...
If you like Dim Sum, this Asian-Fusion spot is one of the best brunch menus in town.
Some of the best traditional Mexican street tacos in Austin (and a few blocks from Alma and Jay's house)!

Asian-BBQ fusion (it sounds weird, but trust us, it slaps).
One of the most well-known spots for BBQ in Austin. They tend to have a line, so give yourself time, but it's worth it! And save some room for their banana pudding!
Arguably the best BBQ in Austin, but they only stay open until they sell out, so if you really want to commit, you have to be in line WAY before opening.

Open till 2am, this is probably Jay's favorite late night go to. The "sliders" are actually just burger sized and they are delicious.
One of A & J's favorite not-too-fancy date night spots!
Peruvian date night spot that we hit up on the regular. Try the Lomo Saltado and don't leave without having a Pisco Sour, the signature cocktail of Peru.
Another Austin classic. Plenty of locations all around the city!
