FAQs

Question

Is this a wedding? A reception? Will there be a ceremony?

Answer

We are exchanging vows with our immediate families in June in Washington, DC. We are having this event in August to celebrate with the rest of our family and friends. You can call it a wedding reception, but we won't be doing a lot of formal reception stuff (like cutting a big cake or tossing a garter.) We are focused on having plenty of good food and drink, lively conversations, and fun yard games.

Question

What is Sovengard?

Answer

Sovengard is a family owned "farm to table" restaurant that recently was named "Restaurant of the Year" in Grand Rapids. We will have the whole place to ourselves! If you are curious to know more about Sovengard, check out their website: https://www.sovengard.com

Question

What time should I get there?

Answer

Guests are welcome to arrive anytime after 6:00 p.m. We have the space until 11:00 p.m.

Question

Where do we park?

Answer

There is street-parking available around Sovengard. However, it is strongly recommended to use the free parking lot across the street, available at Resurrection Fellowship Church (located at 321 W Valley Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504).

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The venue is an upscale restaurant with an outside patio area. The vibe we are going for is "garden party," so please be sure to wear some fun cocktail attire!

Question

What should I bring?

Just bring yourself! We don't have a registry and we aren't looking for gifts, other than the gift of your company.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Yes! When you RSVP, you should see a place to indicate if your kids will be joining. If you don't see this, please reach out to either Allyson or Joel.
