Yes. MDI does not have many ride-share services such as Uber or Lyft, so having a car will allow you to explore all that the island has to offer. There are a few of taxi services we recommend if needed (see travel tab). The wedding events are all within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor, so keep this in mind when determining your accommodations.
Weather patterns tend to change very quickly on the island! It is generally warm and in the 70s in August, but it can get chilly 50-60s) at night and fog is not uncommon. We suggest packing layers, a raincoat and a warm jacket for the evenings to make sure you're comfortable. If you're looking to explore Acadia, bring some hiking shoes or sneakers (and if you're brave, a swimsuit).
There are very few parking spots at Bar Harbor Historical Society mostly reserved for family & vendors, so we recommend staying in Bar Harbor and walking if you are able! If you have any concerns with this, please let us know and we are happy to provide taxi service options for you.
Friday's welcome drinks event is casual! Come as you are but keep in mind it can get chilly at night (there is an outdoor roof deck at Atlantic Brewing). Our wedding day is cocktail attire. Outside of a dance floor, the ceremony and reception will be on grass, so please be mindful of this with your shoe choices.
We want our wedding to be your night off! We would recommend leveraging Care.com if you need child care in Bar Harbor.
