Just a couple towns down from Northport, Sutton's Bay has a public park, shops, restaurants, and ice cream. Fun to browse downtown and make a stop in at Martha's Table for brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Small town about 5 minutes south of Northport - you'll find Knot Just a Bar for a bite and a drink as well as Leelanau Cellars for some wine tasting with a view. This tiny town is set right on the edge of west bay and offers water views you can't miss.

Good Harbor Bay Beach

Amazing beach south of Leland where you can find your own spot on the shore of Lake Michigan. Bring snacks, magazines, and a blanket for a relaxing lakeside afternoon. This beach also allows bonfires and is perfect for watching the sun set.

Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle down the pristine Crystal River.

Mawby has sparking wine that is tough to beat. Next door is Big Little in case you prefer still wine instead. Both wines will be featured at the wedding but the tasting experience is too fun to miss. Be sure to get a glass of Sex!

Lake Leelanau

Small town on the narrows of Lake Leelanau where north and south ends of the lake meet. You'll find a distillery, coffee shop, several restaurants, and other odds and ends.

Gorgeous trail that hikes up through the woods and ends with a view high above Lake Michigan

Pyramid Point Trail

Hike up through the woods until you reach an impressive vista on the dunes above Lake Michigan. You will see views of the Manitou and Fox Islands looking north. BE CAREFUL though, the dunes are fun to run down but can be extremely dangerous to get back up so do not attempt to get to the lakeshore from this trail.

Platte River

Great public beach and rentals for canoeing or tubing. You can choose from a variety of lengths of trips down the river and end up at the shore of Lake Michigan.

The Village at Grand Traverse Commons

Originally a state mental hospital and now an architectural masterpiece of shops, galleries, restaurants, and grounds to stroll. The structures have touches of gothic style and have been expertly restored. Some of the buildings are still in the process of getting renovated since the project started back in 2002.

Take a drive out the other Peninsula - Old Mission - and stop along the way at farm stands, wineries, Jolly Pumpkin, and don't forget to visit the Lighthouse at the very tip!

We will be meeting up Friday 7/26 for a pre-wedding happy hour around 9pm. Come early and grab some food, play a game of bags, or sit by the fire pits and roast some marshmallows while live music plays. They serve beer, cider, and several local wines. It feels like summer camp for adults - kids are always welcome as well!
