Kiptopeke State Park
First explored by Capt. John Smith in 1608, Kiptopeke offers recreational access to the Chesapeake Bay. It's a great place to explore unique migratory bird habitats along the Atlantic flyway. Guests can enjoy the park's boat ramp, lighted fishing pier, 5.1 miles of hiking and biking trails, playground and picnic areas, beach, bathhouse, and swimming beach. Seasonal interpretive and education programs focus on natural history, birding, and bay ecology. Kayak, cabin, and lodge rentals are available.
Cape Charles Beachfront
Cape Charles offers a free public beach in the Historic District safe for families and children of all ages. The shallow waters of the Chesapeake Bay are cleaned and refreshed by the proximity to the confluence of the Atlantic Ocean. There are no waves here, so guests of all ages can enjoy wading in the waters of the Cape Charles Beach.
