The neighborhood where we both live! It has an abundance of shops and restaurants to wander around. We love Malai Viet-Tha and The Rustic is a bar/music venue co-owned by George Strait that's a favorite of locals and tourists. Take the free M-Line trolley to get around this uptown area.
This lively area is a hipster haven. Deep Elllum is known for its vibrant street murals. Here you will find tons of public art, live music venues (mostly at night), shops, brewpubs, cocktail bars, (The Black Sawn Saloon and BrainDead Brewing being favorites of ours) and Tex-Mex eateries. Hit up Pecan Lodge if you want some Texas barbecue! Get there early as there will always be a line for the best BBQ in Dallas, but go as a group of 6 or more and you can skip.
There are many wonderful museums in the Dallas Arts District. Here you will find the Perot Science Museum, The Dallas Museum of Art, The 6th Floor Museum(JFK) or the Dallas World Aquarium. After your visit, head over to Klyde Warren Park for lunch at the food trucks! Here’s a good map for the Dallas arts district: www.visitdallas.com/tourism/trade-resources/maps.html
This museum has an array of cultural works in its collection and offers free admission! It also has a great sculpture garden and Nasher Sculpture Center nearby, however the Nasher does building require an entry fee. Once you are finished looking at the art galleries, walk over to the Klyde Warren Park or jump on the free trolley!
A park built above one of downtown Dallas's main freeways, Klyde Warren Park is a great place to walk around in the fresh air, eat from a number of food trucks lining the park, having a drink at glass-enclosed Savor on the park, play putt putt, visit the dog park or have a picnic with the Dallas skyline in the background.
There is always something going on in Sundance Square Plaza! It is the center of downtown Fort Worth and hosts regular events like live music and free fitness classes. Sundance also has play fountains, plenty of seating, lots of great dining and shopping around the plaza.
