Deception Pass
Scenic bridge and gorgeous waterway, easily accessible. Park and walk the bridge or explore below towards the water—you'll probably see a seal or two!
San Juan Islands
The Puget Sound boasts a handful islands that are accessible by ferry. They are definitely a highlight of this region. Activities include hiking, wine tasting, whale watching, and exploring the quaint towns on each island. You can take the ferry out from Anacortes to get to a few for a day trip or even stay overnight in a bed and breakfast.
North Cascades National Park
Epic mountains, forests and rivers! About 1.5 hours east.
La Conner
Quaint little town on the Sound just a short drive from Mt. Vernon. Allie's favorite author, Tom Robbins, happens to live there!
Bow
An adorable town just a short drive away with great food and small shops.
Bellingham
College town about a 30 minute drive from Mt. Vernon that is host to a burgeoning brewery scene with a casual, outdoorsy vibe.
Lionhead
One of our favorite restaurants in Seattle, conveniently located a short walk away from our apartment. Freshly made noodles, crispy fried chicken morsels, and cocktails with a Sichuan-Chinese spin. Casual with great service.
