Our Story

Allie & Dave first met at Cal Poly back in 2012. She was on the club soccer team & he was involved in very few extracurricular activities. However, their social circles overlapped, & they ended up meeting through mutual friends. Early on, Allie crushed on the older & popular, "College Dave" & with some not-so-subtle encouragement from her girlfriends, Dave asked Allie out. For their 1st date, Dave whisked Allie away to watch a meteor shower at their eventual engagement spot. They began their journey as long-distance lovers. David worked in San Diego while Allie finished her senior year. If you ask either one of them, it was no easy task. They became professional planners, constantly coordinating trips to visit each other & always looking forward to their next adventure. Fast forward a year, Allie graduated and moved to SD just blocks down the street from him. They went from seeing each other every month to every day. It was here that Dave & Allie began to really grow as a couple. They quickly settled into the life of a San Diegan. Two years passed & they yearned to shake things up; they wanted a change & a new challenge. So, they did just that! Both left their corporate jobs, found remote work, & set off on the trip of the lifetime. In late 2018, the Gallivanting Gringos left for Central & South America where they traveled through Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama & Peru for 9 months. Their world was turned upside down as they navigated the language & cultural barriers together, & fell further in love with each amazing adventure. Little did Allie know, David was secretly planning his proposal during the trip. He’d sneak away for “work calls” but he was actually scheming up the perfect plan to surprise the love of his life. When they finally returned to the states in 2019, David planned one last trip to San Luis Obispo, where they first met. Surrounded by family & friends, he popped the question in the hills of Perfumo Canyon, & she said YES!!!
