Taylor and Allie will be getting legally married by a judge in Minnesota in August. There will NOT be a wedding ceremony at the celebration in New Orleans. The party in New Orleans will be a way to celebrate the marriage with great food and even better company company in one of the the best cities!
This is the very tail end of the hurricane season but it is rare to have a problem at this late date. The high temperature for October is 80 and November is 71, the lows are 62 to 52. We recommend layers as the weather can fluctuate quite a bit. This is typically a great time to visit with cooler temperatures and less rain and humidity. We also recommend supportive, comfortable shoes for walking around. The streets in New Orleans and, particularly in the Quarter, are not the best. Also, please watch your step. Even the sidewalks can be rough.
The crime rate can be on the high side but is typically isolated to pockets of the city. The French Quarter is one of the safest areas of town. It is heavily protected and the police station is right on Royal close to the venue. However, we still recommend sticking with populated areas. Canal Street, which borders the French Quarter, has become a bit more sketchy and we don't recommend anyone walking alone there at night. Any petty crimes in the French Quarter tend to occur very late and they focus on the overly intoxicated.
