Our Engagement
It all started in the Outer Banks on June 8, 2019. Two old souls crossed paths, exchanged a few Snaps, and unknowingly began the sweetest forever. What began as constant video calls and daily messages soon became something neither of them could imagine living without. They were the most no-nonsense, low-drama people you’d ever meet—until it came time to say goodbye at the rest stop between their homes in Sugar Hill, Georgia and Weston, West Virginia. Then they turned to puddles. The summer of 2020 was full of road trip conversations, tearful see-you-laters at that same rest stop, and late night calls that defied Allie’s famously early bedtime. They shared stories about their day, learned how closely their core values aligned, and dreamed of raising a family and growing old together in rocking chairs on their future front porch. Their love is built on life’s little moments. Allie says, “I’ve always been fiercely independent, but the second I met Ryan, I knew he was different. He made staying up all night on the phone feel more natural than sleep. I’ve never wanted to share every moment with someone the way I have with him.” After Ryan graduated high school in 2020, he moved to Georgia to begin college with Allie cheering him on. Allie was finishing high school while taking college courses, so they spent their first year of college side-by-side on the couch or at the kitchen table in their virtual classes during Covid times. After she graduated high school, they moved together to Savannah to attend Georgia Southern. Senior year took them abroad to London and Paris, growing even closer as they explored the world. In January 2022, they already knew they were in it forever and adopted their beloved black lab, Cash (named after the man in black himself, Johnny Cash). Whether it’s a walk on the greenway, a picnic, brunch at Cracker Barrel, or cozying up on the couch with Cash for a Netflix night, their favorite place has always been together. In May 2024, they graduated college hand-in-hand—Ryan with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Allie’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. He is now in his second year with the Statesboro Police Department. She’s finishing her master’s degree and is ready to begin her career as a speech pathologist. They’ve grown up together—from teenagers to full-grown adults—navigating long distance, disagreements, big life changes, and countless moments of joy. They’ve shared every joke, every ice cream date, every fast food meal eaten in bed, and every car ride singalong. Ryan says he always dreamed of a relationship like this—built on friendship, respect, and laughter. He says, “Allie, you inspire everyone around you, especially me. You’ve helped shape the man I’ve become. Every day with you is an adventure, and I’m so thankful for every memory we’ve made—and all the ones to come.” After 7 years of making memories together, they’ll say “I do” on Sunday, June 7, 2026, fitting for a couple who has always shared a Sunday kind of love. Their story is proof that love, friendship, and a little determination really can turn dreams into a beautiful reality.
