Travel Note
We recommend taking Metro or Bus to get around. It's super easy to find your preferred routes using your phone, with the "Google Maps," "Transit App," or "Citymapper" apps. DC also is easy to navigate via walking, bicycle, or e-scooters. For longer distances, one-way Lyft and Taxi rides are reasonably priced. July weather in DC is often hot and humid, so be sure to have water and handkerchiefs or napkins with you just in case.
Flight
Washington DC is served by 3 airports. The domestic airport, DCA, is closer to downtown DC, while the 2 international airports (IAD and BWI) are further out: -Washington Dulles (IAD) is the most commonly-used for big international carriers. From downtown DC, it is a 45-minute drive, or about 1 hour, 30 minutes by metro, bus, or a combination of the two. -Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) is also an international airport, and is used for domestic low-cost airlines like Spirit and Southwest. -Washington National (DCA) is the most convenient to get into the city or to Alexandria, VA. You can metro into downtown DC in around 20 minutes.
