Like it was the very first night….Of Hanukkah, that is! Allie and Laurel both showed up at synagogue and, over hot chocolate and “human dreidel”, found shared joy in talking about fandom, copyright, and theater. That weekend, Allie’s mom would end up being right when she’d said that maybe starting the LGBTQ+ group at synagogue would help Allie find a “nice Jewish girl.” Over the course of COVID-era Zoom Shabbat services, at least one tipsy seder, and a last-minute punk walking tour of DC, Laurel and Allie became fast friends. And somewhere between trading favorite tracks on folklore and serenading each other with Taylor Swift songs at their regular karaoke, they realized that maybe the friends who kept telling them to get together (and who’d been hearing about the other for months on-end) had a point, and decided to give being more-than-friends a shot. Fast-forward nearly five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes later, they said to each other “I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life!”
