The best area to watch the sunset and overlook the city on the steps of Piazzale Michelangelo. Grab a bottle of wine and a Pizza at the couple's favorite- Gusta Pizza. There are multiple ways to get there, click the link for 2 most used (give enough time to get up there and find a spot).
When it was consecrated in 1436, it was the world’s largest church. Known for its dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The stair leading up to the top of the duomo get very, very steep and narrow. If you are claustrophobic or have a fear of heights, this might not be for you. You are able to purchase tickets to go to the top of the duomo - purchase in advance.
Included with ticket to the top of the duomo you can also go to the top of the Bell Tower. Some people prefer this because the staircase going up is not as narrow as the duomo. Allie and Arvind prefer this view because your pictures will have the duomo in them!
The market is surrounded by vendors to shop. Make sure to haggle. The bottom level of the market has different stalls and stores for people to shop at. You can bring cheeses back with you to the US (as Allie and Arvind usually do). The bottom level also has a few restaurants that wrap around the outside of the stalls - including Lampredotto (Tripe Sandwich). The top floor has a ton of restaurants you can order food and drinks at and then sit at tables to eat. If you are in a charcuterie mood, Allie and Arvind recommend getting your favorite cheeses and meats on the first floor and then bringing them up to the second floor to eat with a glass of wine (just ask them to cut it up for you at the shops). The top also offers cooking classes!
