In August of 2017, Troy had just moved back to OKC after spending a few months back in California following graduate school and had just started his first full-time job. Allie was a year or two into her career and was already making waves as a superstar home designer in the OKC and Edmond areas. Since all of Troy's college friends had moved away and he was living alone and Allie was living with her parents at the time while her first home was built, they both resorted to a little app called Bumble in an attempt to meet some new people. Now, for all of you over the age of 32, Bumble is a dating app in which a guy and a girl, in our case, match and the girl has to initiate the conversation with the guy. Since Troy immediately knew that Allie was far out of his league, he set up a date with her as quickly as possible. The two had their first date on a perfect, late summer evening at O Bar at the top of the Ambassador Hotel in OKC. From then on they were nearly inseparable and just knew that this was forever. They moved in together 6 months later, adopted their crowd-favorite dog Murphy a few months later, and never looked back.
On the eve of Allie and Troy's second anniversary, an anniversary in which they'd both agreed ABSOLUTELY NO PRESENTS, Troy surprised Allie with an extended weekend trip to Napa. Allie was so surprised and so touched that she sobbed at the thoughtful gesture as they both sprinted around the house frantically packing for their flight which departed the following morning. Troy told Allie all about the weekend he had "planned" for the two of them; wine tasting, yummy dinners, and relaxation (yeah right) galore. Little did Allie know that Troy had a couple of surprises up his sleeve. On their second morning in Napa, as Allie got ready for "wine tasting", Troy snuck out of their hotel room and 15 minutes later, Allie received a knock on the door. To her surprise, it wasn't Troy, it was a staff member of the hotel holding an envelope with her name on it. This note led her on a day-long scavenger hunt that spanned across Napa. Allie had her hair, makeup, and nails done; was surprised with her Mom and sister at lunch; went dress shopping; and was surprised by Troy's family for drinks. Her final clue led her to the Auberge du Soleil resort. Allie and Troy had Easter brunch there back in 2018 and it has one of best views in the Napa Valley. As she arrived at the Auberge, Allie's father, Bill was waiting for her. They cried, hugged, and cried some more before Bill led Allie to a rose petal pathway that would lead her to where Troy was waiting for her. After some tears, many kisses, and a few sweet words, Troy asked Allie to be his wife. After some very, VERY careful consideration, Allie said yes. Being the stand-up gentleman he is, Troy had also hired a photographer to capture the special moments and they had their engagement photo shoot right then and there! After pictures were done, Allie and Troy went up to the restaurant at the Auberge where they were able to celebrate the engagement with the Bowser and Roberts families.
