Our love story

We met on a dating app called Hinge in late November 2022. Megan messaged Dan first about a Halloween costume that his friends had on in his profile. As it turned out, Dan was not even in that costume! We started talking on a Thursday and went on our first date the very next day at Bissell Brothers brewery in Portland, Maine. We went on our second date the day after and then met each others friends that same night! We have both always felt since we met immediately connected with each other and an easy feeling of understanding with each other.

Megan: I always say I knew on our fourth or fifth date when he was picking me up to go somewhere from my old apartment. It was a very windy and stormy day and a trash can had blown over in my drive way and a trash bag had exploded blocking the driveway. I tried to get out of the car to move it so we could leave and he told me to sit down and he would take care of it. I remember being very confused and thinking “wow I think I found a good one, I think this might be it". Dan:. I knew that as soon as we started dating that I was going to have to leave for the police academy for the next 18 weeks. Meg and I had only known each other for a month at this point , I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first. Not because Meg and I did not have a great connection and feelings for each other, I knew that we were not going to be able to talk or see each other really at all during that time, and who would sign up for that? Well Meg did. As all things that are meant to be are, I got lucky and did not make it into that police academy because there were not enough seats. I instead went 4 months later. I remember day one of the academy, terrible time, but the Cadre allowed us five minutes to call someone just to let them know that we made it to the academy in one piece. I called Meg and hoped and prayed that she would be able to just answer the call. She picked up and just said, “Hi Honey”, and it was as if all my problems and stress just went away. I knew then and there that we could and would make it through it together, and that when we did, she was the one for me.

The weekend of May 30th, 31st 2025 started out Friday early morning leaving from our house to drive to Acadia national park to go to the birding festival! We spent the day outside birdwatching, hiking and exploring Acadia national park, one of our favorite places. We had a tour with a professional ornithologist and other birdwatchers before checking into a romantic inn in downtown Bar Harbor. The next morning we had a lazy morning before Dan took Megan to a “surprise” location, the castle in the clouds in New Hampshire! Hiding in the garden was Dans best friends to photograph the special moment. The last surprise was when we got home, our apartment was full of our friends for a special surprise party that Dan planned for Megan. The party was complete with friends, food, cake, champagne and flowers for the best end to the day.
