How we met

Wild events - 07.18.2020

Sooo we are the cliche "We met online" couple. During the peak of covid, we had an exhilarating day that had a few red flags. 1) We met at Lara's apartment - we were both scared to death that each other might be a serial killer 2) Lara was late getting to her OWN apartment 3) Trevor jumped out of a plane a few hours earlier. On that night, we ended up not murdering each other and instead enjoyed a movie you may or may not know, titled "Shrek". From there on, we fell "accidentally in love."

Officially started dating

Lady and the Tramp - 07.28.20

The day we "Officially" started dating was a warm summer day at Trevor's family camps on Sacandaga. Here is the story we know and love: We had a little get together on the beach with Trevor's aunts and uncles which Lara was meeting for the first time. Trevor's family can be a little on the wild side, so Trevor tried to introduce them slowly, and said the infamous words of "Yeah we're like kind of sort of dating". Trevor got teased, and then lunch comes around. During a beach lunch Trevor's family of course brought spaghetti amongst some staples you would bring to a cookout. One of Trevor's aunts made a joke about how we should eat spaghetti like the aformentioned book, "Lady and the Tramp". Lara looks my aunt dead in the eye, laughed and said "He's the lady." then without missing a beat, Trevor retorted, "What does that make you then a tramp?". To this day they now refer to Lara as the tramp.

Proposal at Jay Bridge

The Big Surprise - 02.25.24

Trevor... the romantic one planned it flawlessly. At some moment in time, Trevor decided, Lara is the one, and she couldn't be happier (or agree more hehe). Trevor took her parents out to lunch to ask for their blessing, and she can only imagine it went one way - Trevor super nervous, finally asking the question, followed by a big smile from her father, and her mother bawling. And of course, ending with a happy "of course we give you our blessing." The planning commenced. He planned a beautiful surprise trip for Lara's "birthday" - a tour of covered bridges (her favorite!). Before we left home, Trevor made it clear he wanted to get a good photo of us for Christmas cards, so he very nicely told her to dress nicely - and good call, because she's definitely a leggings and sweatshirt girl for car rides. Our first stop, we walked around, attempted to take a couple pics, and laughed about how awful we are at it. At this point she still didn't know it was a tour of covered bridges. Next, got in the car and Trevor typed in a museum. Lara thought to herself... "Does he even know me!?" He also talked Lara into getting a coffee - to please her, and waste some time, as we were a bit ahead of schedule. We walked around, "going to the museum," coffees in hand and BOOM another covered bridge - The kissing Bridge. The museum was a decoy!! We spent more time here, walking around, taking pictures, laughing, and shared a couple kisses - WE HAD TO, it's the Kissing Bridge!! Once our hot coffees were gone, and we couldn't feel our hands, we hopped in the car and headed to the final Bridge, a Bridge that will hold a very special place in my heart forever. Jay Covered Bridge: When we pulled in Lara immediately saw a photographer walking around, taking some shots of the rocky rapid water under the bridge. It was BEAUTIFUL out and a gorgeous landscape. She assumed he was just out taking pictures for himself. She got so excited and said "OH MY GOD, he can take a good picture of us!" Trevor giggled and agreed. We walked out and Trevor said "Hey man, mind taking a picture of us?" Handed him his phone, and in response the photographer said "Do you actually mind if I use you guys to test my lighting?" Of course we said yes. He asked us to turn around, bridge in the background, and Lara literally said to Trevor "I kinda want to pay him for these photos" Lara looked to the right then looked back to find Trevor down on one knee. A flood of emotions came over Lara, and to this day she never actually said yes... She just cried, and cried and smiled and laughed and hugged the man she will spend forever with. A few moments later, she collected herself and really thought "man we are definitely paying this guy" The photographer says, "let's go down here for some more shots" THAT is the moment it all clicked, Trevor hired him, and planned this whole thing. A few more shots, then off to Lake Placid we went, Photographer included. Trevor had his mom and Lara's mom take a day trip prior to us coming to bring a box of goodies to decorate our suite. Rose petals, T&L GIBSON wine glasses, a bottle of the first ever wine we shared, and a wood slab hand carved by Trevor saying, "Will you marry me?" (cue: more tears) - see first photo in gallery, he did GREAT We spent the rest of the day exploring Lake Placid - Dog Sled rides, beer, and taking in all its beautiful scenery. Now, I have to mention, prior to going I said publically "I don't know, I think I'm over Lake Placid." Well.. I officially take that back! Lake Placid and Jay Covered Bridge will forever be a place that holds so much meaning and love to us, and we plan on taking many many trips back!"
