Al-Azhar Park
Al- Azhar Park is a large public park and green oasis in the heart of Historic Cairo. It was transformed from a century-old rubbish dump into a vibrant, beautifully landscaped space and opened to the public in 2005. Its a great spot for photography and you can enjoy lunch/dinner at some of there restaurants including the Citadel.
The Grand Egyptian Museum
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza, Egypt, is the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization, showcasing the history and culture of ancient Egypt from prehistoric times to the Roman era. Located just about 2 km from the Great Pyramids of Giza, the museum opened officially in November 2025 after over two decades of planning and construction, and houses more than 100,000 artifacts, many of which are on display for the first time, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, colossal statues like that of Ramses II, and the solar boats of Pharaoh Khufu.
Mosque of Muhammad Ali
The Muhammad Ali Mosque—also known as the Alabaster Mosque—is one of Cairo’s most iconic and impressive landmarks, located within the Citadel of Salah ad-Din (Saladin), which overlooks the city. Built between 1830 and 1848 by Muhammad Ali Pasha, the Ottoman-era ruler of Egypt, the mosque was designed in the classic Ottoman style (inspired by great mosques in Istanbul) and marked a new architectural direction in Egypt distinct from earlier Mamluk and Fatimid designs. Inside, the mosque houses decorative calligraphy, chandeliers, and the tomb of Muhammad Ali Pasha himself, making it both a place of worship and a symbol of Egypt’s 19th-century modernization and political power.
Khan el-Khalili Market
Khan al-Khalili is a historic market in Islamic Cairo dating back to the 14th century. It’s known for its narrow streets lined with shops selling traditional goods like jewelry, spices, textiles, and souvenirs. More than a shopping spot, it’s a cultural hub near Al-Azhar Mosque, famous for historic cafés and its lively atmosphere that reflects Cairo’s heritage.
