Somehow, we never crossed paths while attending Andrews. Even though we both studied Biology and graduated the same year. Instead, we met several years later, at Kettering, OH... of all places. After the first time really hanging out it took us several months to begin talking consistently. Aliz didn’t seem very interested at first, but couldn’t resist my charms for long. We began dating long distance not knowing exactly when we would see each other next but spent may hours video chatting. I’d like to give a big thanks to FaceTime for making this relationship possible. It wasn’t long into the relationship that we both realized that we were in this for the long run, and what better place to decide this than a kids playground castle. Early in our relationship we found ourselves going for a walk and having the important conversation of where we saw our relationship going. On this walk we somehow found ourselves having this conversation in a kids play castle (this will be important in the proposal). About 6 months after we started dating Aliz was able to move out to Dayton full time and we were able to say goodbye to the days of no cuddling. Unsurprisingly, after several more months of cuddling we knew that we wanted to be married and it was time to figure out the proposal... TO BE CONTINUED...
All the long hours of FaceTiming and texting paid off after I moved to Ohio. We had met each other’s family, now it was time for Dylan to get on with it! Dylan had his own ideas of proposing, first it was a ring pop candy, then it was an inflatable ring float for the pool, but I wasn’t persuaded. Time went on and we got busy with school and work. It was a cold January morning and Dylan and I had plans to explore Cincinnati. Or more like, I had plans to drag Dylan around as I explored the city. We started the day off with pizza, explored a spice shop, took my leisure time at an art store. Everything a girl could ask for... oh, plus hanging out with Dylan is great too. Having eaten way too much pizza, Dylan proposed (no pun intended haha) we go for a walk, in 18 degree weather. I’m still not sure how he convinced me but I somehow said yes and we found ourselves walking towards a kids playground. I was more than ready to turn around and curl in a warm blanket. But no, Dylan wants to go play in the playground. Now, for several weeks now, I had tried to have Dylan repeat after me... I’d get him as far as “Will you..” but that was it. Now I found myself standing in front of him, inside of a plastic castle and he asks me to repeat after him. Needless to say, I had no problem saying “Yes” and we slid down the winding slide and into our very near future as Mr. & Mrs. Milam. I think we’re going to schedule all of our important meetings in a playground from now on.
