They met for the first time in the summer of 2016 at a jazz bar in Flatiron, NYC. Michael was running a little late of course, so while Alix patiently waited for him to arrive she ordered two old-fashions and began to sip on her cocktail. A few minutes later she noticed a handsome, blue-eyed man walk in and head directly towards the bar. She tapped him on the shoulder from behind and said "Michael?". As he turned around he replied "wow, you're even prettier in person". And they cheers'd to that! Fast forward to four years later...
August 2019, Michael and Alix were packing up the rental car (again) to embark on the final stretch of their Pacific Coast Highway road trip... next stop, BIG SUR for Alix’s birthday weekend! As they were getting ready Mike suggested they should dress up to capture some good photos that day. In other words, don't wear leggings. She put on a beautiful white linen dress and asked Mike “is this okay?". Trying his best to keep a straight face, he said "ya, that works". At that point he was convinced she knew. There had already been several occasions during their two months stay in Venice where Alix later learned she was within arms reach of the ring. Initially holding the backpack it was hiding in. She wanted to borrow the bag for a hike which turned into Mike having to convince her that he was planning on using it. "Seriously, it's been hiding in the closet for two months". Another time was when Mike came home to see her standing on a chair in the kitchen organizing cabinets where he moved it to thinking she would never see it up there. "I think Benson just threw up outside" he says to her. She hopped off, he secured the ring! After a few hours on the road with a couple pitstops for pictures and site seeing along the way, Mike realized they were behind schedule. He was eager to get them to the next location where the surprise proposal was planned. Alix of course not knowing the photographer was waiting at The Location with no cell service on the edge of a cliff on the hottest day they experienced all summer, insisted they first stop for ice-cream. They finally find the trail, Mike jumps out grabs Benson and is ready to go. Alix began digging through their bags for the ugliest blue hiking shoes you would ever consider pairing with her dress. Mike tried to convince her that her flats were fine, but thought to himself “Ok, she actually has no idea!” About 40 minutes later they arrived at Harmony Trailhead and you can probably guess what happened next #SheSaidYes!
We look forward to celebrating with all of you in May
