If not for our shared love for black licorice (polarizing, we know), we may not have met. Alix had included her love for the tasty delight on her Hinge profile and once John saw, he knew he had to know more. On the first date, John brought Alix some black licorice (to counterbalance the booze), a tradition which continued on subsequent dates. It didn’t take long to realize how well we got along — Alix taking John on hikes, John making Alix laugh with his “cute and Canadian” ways, goofing off together, and exploring our favorite spots around the city. Dating apps were quickly deleted and family and friends were introduced. On a quiet Saturday morning in July, John proposed in Central Park at the pond right by our apartment. Crying, Alix said yes. In October 2023, Alix and John welcomed Isaac into the world. Isaac loves smiling and flirting with strangers everywhere he goes. He is curious, always trying to figure things out, loves the water and playing. We’re in such awe of the person he’s become and love watching him grow. We’re so excited to share our love for each other with you all and thank you for joining in our special day.
