The Bride's favorite hometown BBQ! Yes, it's in a gas station. It's also some of the smokiest and most flavorful meat you'll ever have. Drool. Bride's recommendation: Pork z man with fries is my go-to, but you HAVE to try the burnt ends if you've never have them!
Classic diner-style burger joint right off Kansas City's famous Country Club Plaza. We recommend going inside for the full experience, including picking a song on the juke box! We recommend the double Winstead with everything, a 50/50, and a skyscraper. It's our favorite!
Another one of the couple's favorites. It boasts the largest Asian art collection outside San Francisco, as well as works from classics like Monét, Kandinsky, and O'Keeffe, not to mention the extensive and very impressive sculpture garden on the surrounding grounds. It's a must-see.
Who doesn't love wine? Stop in for a glass on the patio, a bite to eat, or grab a whole bottle to-go! Nice little gem with local Missouri wines.
Beautiful views, tasty food, but service can be somewhat lacking. Grab a spot on the patio, settle in, and plan to be here a while.
A must-stop if you travel in from Springfield! It is right on highway 13, and has all the cheese and cheese accessories you could ask for; mostly local cheeses, beer, wine, crackers, pretzels, and cured meats. There is also a little Amish Country Store across the highway that has all the snacks and yums (and gas) you could want on your way back to the airport.
One of our country BBQ favorites. If you stop here you MUST get The Sugarfoot (we like it with pulled pork) and blackberry pie. Must.
If you're looking for some donuts Sunday morning, I promise it's worth the drive. (Plus, it's near I49, so still on the way back to Springfield or KC.) They have a seasonal weekly flavor, and everything they make is delicious. Tasty local donuts and coffee, anyone? Yum.
Feeling Adventurous? Spend a day outside hiking or biking on the Katy Trail.
