Alison and Kevin's story is a tale of friendships once removed; they both grew up in John's Creek and had overlapping groups of friends but had never crossed paths. That changed one Saturday in November 2018, at Ali Coury (now Janssen's) graduation party. Kevin, who befriended Ali in 6th grade, was an expected attendee. Alison, who knew and was fond of Ali through mutual friends but was not explicitly invited, "crashed" the party. That Saturday, Alison did not have any plans, and at the last minute agreed to tag-along with her roommate, Mayce, to Ali's party. If you know Alison, who can be quite introverted, you know that it is out of character for her to agree to an impromptu party invitation. During the party, Alison overheard Kevin discussing various types of lettuces, and as a dietitian, she's a sucker for a chat about produce. They talked the rest of the night. Alison is very glad that she said yes to that party. Over the next few months, with lots of patience on Kevin's part when faced with Alison's lackluster texting habits, and encouragement from their newly discovered groups of mutual friends, they both leaned in and ended up falling hard. In February 2020, after a year of fun dates and new experiences, they decided to move in together ... and a week later, the world shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They feel very lucky that they ended up being compatible roommates - it would have been a long year if not! In 2021, they made things permanent, and purchased their first home together, right down the street from their rental. They have lived a lot of life since then! They have loved and lost their beloved first dog together, Lily, and are dedicated members of the Foster Fail Club with two more quirky pups at home, Goose and Stanley. They have welcomed nieces and nephews into the world and enjoy being the cool aunt and uncle. They enjoy traveling and always jump at the chance for a new adventure or to celebrate a friend. They have undertaken many house projects (Alison as the visionary, Kevin as project manager) including landscaping, painting (barely a surface left untouched), and a bathroom renovation; and have appreciated the lessons in teamwork that have resulted. Their favorite activity to do together will always be preparing and enjoying a good meal - the past time to which they credit a successful emergence from the pandemic. In December 2025, on a beautiful day at Falls Park in Greenville, SC, Kevin took a deep breath, and finally asked that important, elusive little question. When a flock of geese landed on the river in front of them, they couldn't help but feel it was kismet. Alison and Kevin are both so grateful for their loved ones who have supported them both as individuals and as partners as they have grown in their relationship. They are so excited to celebrate with you all in October 2026 and want to thank you for being a part of their story! <3
