The first time we were in proximity (that we know of) was January 7, 2013 at our friends' wedding. Alison's closest childhood friend, Catherine, was marrying one of Jason's closest friends from college, Drew. We don't remember seeing each other that night, though! Alison went back to San Antonio for her last semester of law school and Jason returned to Naples, FL where he was working in the wealth management industry. Ten years later, Alison and Cat were catching up when Cat mentioned that one of Drew's friends from college had recently moved to Dallas and she had thought about having them meet. Alison said she was interested and Cat backchanneled with Drew, who confirmed that Jason was interested, too! A group chat was started with a plan for the four of us to meet up when Cat and Drew were in town a couple of months later for a low-key way to see if there were any sparks. But Jason was ready to see where this might go! Jason asked Alison out to dinner shortly after the group chat started, and we went out the following week to a Japanese restaurant called Shinsei (which, incidentally, means "New Beginnings" - well-picked, Jason!). We both noticed that the other one highly valued their relationship with Jesus, had strong community and long-running friendships, and loved to laugh. By the time our pre-planned hangout came around the following month, we'd been out several times and the group hang was now very much a double date! While we would have loved to have met ten years earlier and bumped this timeline up, we can clearly see that God's timing was absolutely perfect in when we met. We would like to thank Cat and Drew for taking a chance on a set-up for their friends (and are very much committed to paying it forward ourselves!) and are so excited for this next chapter. It means the world to have you celebrate our marriage with us!
