Balboa Park
One could spend an entire week exploring Balboa Park's museums, galleries, theaters, gardens, and shops. Whether you want to smell the sweet aroma of 1,600 roses in the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden (and nearby cactus garden) or feel what it's like to sit inside an Apollo lunar module in the Air and Space Museum, there's truly something for everyone at Balboa.
Coronado Beach
Voted one of America's finest beaches, Coronado's white-sand shores are the perfect spot to enjoy the warmest time of year in Southern California.
San Diego Zoo
You'll almost feel like you're in the natural habitats of the animals at San Diego Zoo, with its open-air, cageless exhibits housing more than 4,000 creatures. (And it's absolutely awesome: ask the zoo's more than 4 million annual visitors!)
USS Midway Museum
Commissioned just days after World War II, the Midway was the first of its namesake class of carriers—the first ships too large to fit the Panama Canal. In her 47 years in service, the USS Midway saw action in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. Now moored as a museum, visitors are free to explore from the top of the command tower to the inner workings of the anchor chain room. There are even WWII-era aircraft on deck and flight simulators in the hangar!
